Was bringing gold from Dubai, arrested from Amritsar airport

Amritsar | Fulfilling the saying 'you are on the branch and I am on the leaf', Amritsar Customs Preventive has arrested a passenger from Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport with a consignment of 1 kg 935.14 grams of gold worth 1.5 crores. The accused was bringing the consignment of gold in the form of paste inside his underwear and tied in the form of a bandage on his knees. According to the customs spokesperson, when Spice Jet Airlines flight number SG-56 landed at the airport on Saturday, passengers were checked. During that time, the behavior of a passenger seemed suspicious. After this, the customs team did his physical checking. The passenger had hidden two pouches of gold in the form of paste in his underwear. When the search went further, two pouches were tied on his knees in the form of a bandage. When the four pouches were weighed, their weight was 2 kg 674 grams. When it was processed, 1 kg 935.14 grams of pure 24 carat gold was found in it, whose market value was Rs 1 crore, 50 lakh, 32 thousand 167. The gold was seized under Section 104 of the Customs Act, 1962.
