North Korea on Saturday criticised South Korea and the United States for holding joint air drills and accused Washington of pushing the Korean Peninsula into an "uncontrollable" situation. The Freedom Flag exercise began this week and will run until next Friday, with air forces from South Korea and the US as well as Australia taking part, according to reports. The two-week joint drill, which is taking place for the first time, replaces regular large-scale air exercises between South Korea and the US called the Korea Flying Training in the first half of the year and Vigilant Defence in the second half, according to a statement by the Korean Central Intelligence Agency.
