Patwari arrested for accepting 50 thousand rupees in exchange of transfer of plot

As part of the campaign against corruption, Vigilance has caught Patwari Mandeep Singh posted in Sultanwind-2, Tehsil Amritsar-1 and his associate Jarnail Singh red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 in exchange for the transfer of a plot. The accused Patwari has been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Lakhwinder Singh, resident of Doctor Avenue, GT Road, Amritsar. The complainant alleged that the accused had demanded bribe in exchange for getting the plot sold by the complainant transferred. The said Patwari's associate Jarnail Singh, who works as a property dealer, talked to the Patwari and finalized the deal. A bribe of Rs 1,00,000 was taken as the first installment. Vigilance laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 in the presence of government witnesses. Further investigation is being carried out.
