The workers of East and Gulf Coast Ports in America may go on strike for the first time in 47 years from midnight on Monday. No talks have been scheduled with the management to stop this. This will have an impact on the whole world. Goods worth about Rs 42 thousand crore are shipped from the US East and Gulf Coast Port every day. Yashwant Singh, Export Operation Manager of City Freight Logistics USA, said that this port handles 56% of America's shipping. The contract between ILA, the organization representing its 45,000 workers, and the employer United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) ended late Monday night. There is a deadlock in the negotiations over salary for the new contract. That is why they had to go on strike for the first time since 1977. If shipping from US East and Gulf Coast ports is halted, then the movement of everything from food to vehicles from America to the whole world will be affected.
