Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday dismissed reports of Chinese encroachment in Arunachal Pradesh. Rijiju said, merely painting marks will not make the land belong to China. In the unmarked areas on the India-China border, Indian and Chinese soldiers often reach the same place for patrolling, but this does not constitute a case of encroachment on Indian territory. Rijiju's remarks came amid reports that the Chinese army had allegedly entered Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh's Anjaw district last week and had been camping in the Kapapu area of the district for some time. These reports said that pictures of fire at the site, marks engraved on rocks and Chinese food items have been shared on social media.
