Retired army jawan Vinod Chand died after his unbalanced car fell 70 meters down into the Sutlej river. In this case, his family will get a compensation of Rs 67.04 lakh. The Motor Accident Claim Tribunal has ordered the respondent party to pay this amount along with 7.5 percent interest. Vinod's wife Kangra resident Tripta Devi had filed a complaint. Car driver Satyaveer Singh, car owner Mayank Gautam and HDFC Ergo General Insurance Company were made parties in the case. On May 29, 2022, Vinod was going from Panchkula in a car for line testing. Satyaveer Singh was driving the car at high speed and in a hurry. The car fell into the Sutlej river due to loss of balance. Vinod, his friend Kamal and driver Satyaveer were seriously injured. Vinod died during treatment. Vinod was 55 years old at the time of the accident and was retired from the Army. He was working as a technician in a company. He was earning 75 thousand rupees monthly from pension and current job. Neither driving license nor RC: The car driver said that he was driving as per the rules. The car owner also gave the same answer. The insurance company said that the driver did not have a valid DL and RC. In such a case, they are not responsible to give the claim.
