In the case of not completing the construction work within the stipulated time despite taking a huge amount, the State Consumer Commission has changed the decision of the District Consumer Commission and ordered the defendant to pay a compensation of Rs 1 lakh. In the case, Neelam Bansal of Sector-44B had made Dev Construction and Dev Dutt Sharma of Sector-20 Panchkula a party.
Due to the non-appearance of the defendant side, this decision was given by making them ex-party. In the appeal case filed, Neelam Bansal had challenged the decision of the District Consumer Commission dated March 5, 2024. In that decision, the defendant was ordered to return only Rs 29 thousand with 9 percent interest and Rs 21 thousand as damages and court expenses. The State Commission, changing the decision of the lower commission, ordered the defendant to return Rs 4.81 lakh as additional amount recovered from the complainant. At the same time, Rs 1 lakh should be paid as damages and court expenses.
