We’re really looking forward to tomorrow – and it’s not just because we love barbecues, fireworks, and spending time with family and friends.
We love Independence Day because it’s a reminder of so many of the values that define who we are as Americans, including freedom and individual liberty. And this year especially, having just celebrated the 50th anniversary of Stonewall – what’s commonly seen as the galvanizing moment in the movement for LGBTQ freedom – we’re reflecting on what freedom means for our LGBTQ neighbors.
As the co-chairs of Conservatives Against Discrimination, we know that for so many LGBTQ people, freedom means the freedom to live their lives authentically. We also know that in too many states, LGBTQ people living authentically can leave them vulnerable to discrimination. That’s not right, and it’s why we’re working to elevate the voices of conservatives across the country who support nondiscrimination protections for all LGBTQ people.

All Americans should have basic freedoms – and they should be applied to all people, regardless of sexual orientation and discrimination. No one should live in fear of facing discrimination because of their LGBTQ identity.
Standing up against discrimination is a central part of our value as conservatives. Let’s spread the word far and wide about the America we believe in – an America that lives up to its reputation as a land of opportunity by ensuring that no one faces discrimination because of who they are.
