Three Alarm Fire at Charlotte Uptown Bakery

CHARLOTTE – According to the Charlotte Fire Department, crews battled a three-alarm fire uptown early Saturday morning.

Officials responded to the call at 312 N. Graham St., which is the Fourth Ward Bread Company.

It took more than 60 firefighters to put the fire out. The fire department’s investigative team estimates a damage of approximately $500,000.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire has not been determined, although the fire department has ruled out arson.

Instead of getting breakfast, customers who stopped by Saturday morning were greeted by fire officials who were boarding the building up.

“Charlottes’ gotten so into eating and drinking local lately,” said customer Callie Olive. “That’s going to be a huge loss, especially for the Fourth Ward area.”
