Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been named the ICC Player of the Month for June, while Australian all-rounder Ashley Gardner has won the award in the women's category. Gardner, who performed exceptionally well in the Women's Ashes, has become the first player to win the Player of the Month award three times.
Hasaranga's outstanding performance in the World Cup qualifiers, where he took 5-5 wickets in three consecutive matches, has earned him the award. He is the first spinner in the world to achieve this feat and took a total of 26 wickets in the month of June. His performance was instrumental in Sri Lanka's qualification for the ODI World Cup. He is the first Sri Lankan player to win this award since July 2022.
Meanwhile, Gardner scored 40 runs and took 12 wickets in the only Ashes Test against England, which earned her the award in the women's category.
