A junior engineer (JE) employed by Powercom was caught red-handed by the Gurdaspur Vigilance team while accepting a bribe. The JE, identified as Kripa Singh, had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from Sukhjit Singh, a resident of Dhadiala village in Police Station Sadar, in exchange for installing a transformer. Sukhjit Singh had submitted an application to the department for the installation, but was met with the demand for a bribe. He then lodged a complaint with the Vigilance Department, which promptly launched an investigation and devised a plan to catch the JE in the act. The plan proved successful, as the Vigilance team arrested Kripa Singh while he was accepting the first installment of Rs 10,000 from Sukhjit Singh. This incident highlights the prevalence of corruption in public services and the importance of reporting such incidents to the authorities. It is crucial for individuals to stand up against corruption and for authorities to take strict action against those found guilty of such crimes.
