New Delhi | Luxury electric car company Tesla is once again trying to set up a manufacturing plant in India. Tesla's representatives have met government officials in this regard. According to people associated with the matter, Tesla will now get completely ready-made cars from the Government of India as before. (CBU) is not demanding reduction in import duty. Significantly, cars costing $40,000 (Rs 33 lakh) and above attract 100% import duty in India. This duty is 60% on cars priced below this. Earlier, the American company Tesla demanded that the import duty be reduced to 40%. After that it will consider manufacturing plant in India. According to sources, Tesla may still seek some duty exemptions, but these would be to test the market for some of its models.
