Chandigarh | The District Court has sentenced Punjab Police Sub-Inspector Balbir Singh to two years of imprisonment in a check bounce case of Rs 24.5 lakh. The court has also ordered him to return the check amount within a month. Ashish Kumar Battu of Sector-40 had filed a complaint against Balbir. Ashish stated that he had a good friendship with Balbir and had lent him Rs 25.50 lakh when he was in need. Balbir claimed that he needed the amount for a property deal and promised to return it in 2-3 years.
Although Balbir returned one lakh rupees, he failed to return the rest of the money. After some time, he went to America and did not return Ashish's money for 6-7 years. Balbir had given a check to Ashish, which bounced when he deposited it in his account. The court has now found Balbir guilty in this case and sentenced him to two years of imprisonment.
