The way has been cleared for starting the proposed four-year Integrated BEd (Bachelor of Education) course to eliminate the shortage of subject specialist teachers teaching in schools. Students will now be able to enroll in courses like BA-BEd and BSc-BEd only after completing the 12th standard. To do B. Ed, students have to do courses like BA or B.Sc, which takes three years. Apart from this, BEd is also two years. They take five years to do both these courses. In such a situation, if a student enrolls in the Integrated B.Ed course from the beginning, then he will have one year of relaxation. After getting approval from the Ministry of Education, the National Council for Teacher Education has intensified the preparation for this course.
